APC Dismisses Report of Automatic Tickets for Lawmakers, Calls It Fake News

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has firmly refuted viral claims suggesting that the party has granted automatic tickets to its sitting National Assembly members ahead of the upcoming general elections.

In a statement released on Tuesday by Felix Morka, the APC’s National Publicity Secretary, the party labeled the reports as false and misleading. The statement was also posted on the party’s official X (formerly Twitter) handle.

“Our attention has been drawn to a purported Breaking News Report tagged ‘APC Grants Automatic Tickets to All National Assembly Members’ in viral circulation,” the statement read.

The party clarified that it had not issued such a decision and urged both its members and the general public to disregard the circulating claim.

“The report is FAKE NEWS and should be disregarded in its entirety as it did not emanate from our great Party,” the party emphasized.

Felix Morka added that the origin of the report was mischievous and advised everyone to be cautious of politically motivated disinformation as election seasons draw near.

“We urge all party members and the general public to disregard the report as FAKE and of mischievous origin,” he said.

The issue of automatic tickets has often sparked internal controversy within political parties, as it tends to stir concern among aspirants and party loyalists who view it as a breach of democratic principles.

This recent clarification by the APC is seen as an effort to calm internal tension and reaffirm the party's commitment to a transparent and fair primary election process.
