EFCC Confirms Investigation and Detention of Martins Innocent Otse
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has confirmed the investigation and arrest of Martins Innocent Otse following numerous petitions involving serious allegations of financial crime.
According to a statement published on EFCC’s verified Facebook page, Otse failed to respond to multiple invitations sent to his known addresses and contact points.
The Commission emphasized that the arrest was not in retaliation to Otse’s social media criticisms against the EFCC. Rather, it was based on the gravity of the allegations and his refusal to cooperate.
“The EFCC has a lawful right to hold Otse in custody like any other suspect being investigated by the Commission. The appropriate Remand Order was obtained in this regard.”
Otse has been granted administrative bail and will be released once he meets the set conditions. The EFCC urges the public to avoid misinterpreting its actions and allow the commission to carry out its duties without interference.
“The EFCC should be allowed to do its job without fear or favour. As soon as investigations are concluded, charges will be filed.”
