Christopher Nkunku Set to Leave Chelsea This Summer with Premier League Move on the Cards

Christopher Nkunku is set to depart Chelsea this summer, with potential interest from both Bayern Munich and Tottenham Hotspur. The 27-year-old French forward, who joined Chelsea from RB Leipzig in 2023 for £53 million, has had a challenging tenure marked by injury setbacks. He missed the start of his debut season after knee surgery and ultimately made only 14 appearances in the 2023/24 campaign, scoring three goals.

In the 2024/25 season, Nkunku managed 14 goals and five assists across all competitions, but only three goals came in the Premier League, and he started just nine out of 33 league matches. Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca, while expressing admiration for Nkunku, pointed out limited opportunities in the starting lineup due to tactical balance and the presence of players like Cole Palmer.

Although Bayern Munich showed interest in January, they were deterred by Chelsea's valuation exceeding £50 million. Nkunku remains open to a return to the Bundesliga or staying in the Premier League, with Spurs showing recent interest in a surprise move to keep him in London.

Despite being contracted to the Premier League club until 2029, there appears to be no way back for the Frenchman at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea are reportedly willing to sell Nkunku, but the Premier League top-five hopefuls are asking for €70million (£59m, $79m). The French striker is open to leaving this summer after a difficult season.

As the summer transfer window approaches, Nkunku's future remains uncertain, but a departure from Chelsea seems imminent. Clubs interested in bolstering their attacking options will be monitoring the situation closely.
